Hello, we are
Sol Ranch
We raise cattle and produce grassfed and finished beef in northeastern New Mexico. Our beef comes from cattle that spend their entire lives out on pasture grazing where the plains meet the mountains in a landscape that requires well adapted cattle and intentional and responsible grazing plus land stewardship. We use adaptive ranching practices to strive to improve soil health, water quality, groundwater infiltration, encourages biodiversity, and increases the resiliency of the food supply chain we are a part of.
Our operation’s core values have a focus on fostering relationships with the people who eat our food and working within a strong neighboring network. We strive to make decisions with our ecosystem’s capacity in mind - all while delivering healthy food and a healthy watershed to our community.
it’s more than just
Raising the best
Grassfed Beef
Our commitment to preserving a healthy environment for our cattle to live and grow not only enables us to provide a healthier source of beef for you - it allows us to heal the ecosystems we rely on for sustaining life.
It takes time to rebuild the organic matter and the structure of a soil, but the long term benefits of leaving more grass in the pasture results in more total grass that can be grazed by cattle and wildlife as well as overall healthier plants and soil. These improvements to the ecological function of our rangeland translates to healthier land and therefore healthier cattle and humans.

FIND THE VALUE IN
Our
Approach
At Sol Ranch, we believe that nature functions in wholes and all beings on the ranch need to be healthy in order to fulfill their roles in this ecosystem, including ourselves as humans. We think that balance is the key to life and we strive to incorporate balance into our lives and into our business. Mother nature has this figured out already and our intent for our land management is to mimic nature and how she would proceed to repair and restore the land. It’s. hard to stay out of her way because she’s the one that knows how to get there.
Our livestock and horses, our hard work, and our open minds are our primary tools for managing the landscape and attempting to improve our soils. By focusing on the following areas, we are able to provide what we think is a viable solution to modern-day ranching - all while supplying beef that not only tastes better but is healthier for you.

OUR COMMUNITY
We are lucky to share our seasonal workload with nearby ranchers and community members through the act of “neighboring” during the spring and fall. With their occasional help, we are able to raise, finish, and process our grassfed and finished dry-aged beef and transfer the value of good food produced locally on to our community members who support and purchase Sol Ranch beef. Whether you are hoping to prepare for uncertainty in food supply chains in the future or you just enjoy the feeling of having healthy food for your family always on hand, we have something for you. You can check out what else we are up to in the neighborhood by visiting our Education and Outreach page or our Projects and Collaborations page.

RANCHING IN
New Mexico
The history of ranching in New Mexico goes back centuries. Through years of colonization, poor grazing management, and unsustainable dryland farming practices, the land was changed from its natural flourishing state to a state of simplified plant communities, eroded drainages, and a reduced capacity for storing water and growing plants. It has become Sol Ranch’s mission to redefine what ranching looks like in New Mexico - and restore life and vitality back into land where possible.
